Winning team members: Ardi, Nash, Leon
The winning team
For week 3 class, every selected teams took their turns and represented their ideas. After the Q&A session for students and lecturers to raise questions for the teams, students were given a piece of paper to vote for their desired team. It was a tight competition as 3 of the teams received almost the same amount of vote counts. Lastly, the event proposed by the winning team was a fashion exhibition event called "New Youth" showcasing the Malaysian subcultures. The event aims to document and present a few Malaysian subcultures such as skaters, "hijabster" (hijab + hipster) and so on. Each of the subcultures have their own platform or area within the exhibition with different props and decorations.
SUBCULTURE EXHIBITION
How would the event be carried out differentlyIf given a chance to incorporate personal opinions and execute ideas onto the exhibition, the team could go to the streets and make a video of interviewing people from the subculture and have it on reply during the event. Moreover, production team could also incorporate lifestyle routine of the subculture into the props and decorations would allow the public to experience and have a deeper understanding towards the subculture. For example, the team could source for the music they love to listen, their social activities, mandatory products used to have a particular style. Besides, the team could collaborate with local street photographers that captures moments and lifestyle of the Malaysian culture and subculture to make the event more interesting. As the saying goes " a picture is worth a thousand words" the photos captured by the photographers can be hung from the ceiling. Visitors can be inspired by the photos that tells stories and convey messages. As mentioned the fashion presentation that was proposed during Week 2, the moving / interactive models concept can also be applied on this fashion exhibition. Aside from having still mannequins wearing the clothes, specific subculture styling can be done on models hence audience could look at different types of subcultures in real life rather than picturing it. Another idea that have been thought of is to have an "OOTD" contest for all the visitor. Visitors have the freedom to choose whichever subcultures that they want to be for the day and take as much pictures as possible during the exhibition. They are encourage to be as creative as possible with their photos and 3 winners will be selected. In terms of prizes, event organizers can collaborate with beauty retailers such as Hermo to distribute vouchers for the winners. For more information, team members could also look at Youth Club to look for ideas and explore any other opportunities.

Personal interpretation of the event
Based on the presentation and understandings of "New Youth" event, this exhibition was visualized to be posh looking, classy and an Instagram worthy event. As see below is the moodboard created to show personal interpretation of the event. According to the moodboard, the overall atmosphere and surrounding is clean, neat and minimalist. Even though documentation, journal and antiques can be crafty or vintage looking, this problem can be solved by printing information and visuals on a better quality paper or card boards.
