WHY A LOGO IS NEEDED?
Creating a logo is as important as the event itself. It's common knowledge that a logo is a marketing tool. It is not only the first impression of a brand, in this case, the event, it affects the brand's recognition as well (Leonard, 2018). A good logo is impressionable, letting the audience remember the brand even though they have only seen it two or three times and setting the brand apart from its competitors (Bacic, n.d.). Besides, brands are able to manipulate intended feelings from the audiences by using appropriate colours, shapes, symbols and fonts onto the logo (Bacic, n.d.) .
LOGOS FROM COMPETITORS
As seen below is the logo from local creative platforms who've held multiple big events, workshops and targets similar target audience as Malaysian Youth Now. Before creating a logo, a research was done to study the logos of these famous creative platforms in Malaysia.

MALAYSIAN YOUTH NOW LOGO THAT DID NOT MAKE IT
As seen below are the logos created by the author herself for experiment purposes. The logo was shown to a couple of targeted audience to receive some opinions. However, the person in charge for logo creating is from the other team.
TRIAL LOGO 1
Rejected reason:
1) The "M' and the yellow background reminds audience of Mc Donalds and DIGI.
2) The shade of yellow is tiring for the eyes after staring it for awhile.
3) The font for "MYN" gives off a playful feeling instead of professional.
TRIAL LOGO 2
Rejected reason:
1) The Orange colour does not scream "fun and exciting" to the targeted audience.
2) The font gives off an unprofessional and untrustable feeling.
3) The logo does not explains that the brand is about.
LOGO TRIAL 3
Rejected reason:
1) The dark Teal Green colour does not catch people's attention.
2) The wordings are too long.
3) The colour combination does not make the logo impressionable.
FIRST BATCH LOGO
Concept behind the logo
The students have decided on creating a simple logo using the 3 primary colours - Red, Blue and Yellow as these are the colours of the Malaysian flag. Other than that, this logo uses minimal fonts, shapes and design which suits the youth.
As seen below are the first batch of logo used for the event, created by the creative team and was unfortunately changed due to a couple of reasons.
Rejected reason:
1) There is too much going on in the logo as it contains graphics, event description and event name.
2) The wordings are not readable anymore when the logo size is reduced.
3) The logo does not look appealing on posters, social media profile picture as 80% of the logo is in white.
Rejected reason:
1) The logo is too long to be fitted in posters, event social media profile.
2) The minimal font is not readable.
FINALIZED LOGO
QUIZ
According to a quiz taken from Grasshopper.com to determine which colour suits Malaysian Youth Now exhibition, the result was yellow as yellow symbolizes fun, positive and youthful (Grasshopper resources, 2018) . Other companies that uses the colour Yellow are IKEA, Mc Donalds, DHL and Ferrari. Instead of using the usual primary colours, the colours as seen above are desaturated so it still captures the attention, however, does not tire people's eyes. Other than that, the font size and font is easily readable even when the size is small. Bold fonts give a sense of stability and safety (Peate, 2018) .
